As the temperatures rise, the risk of drowning increases. The beaches are unguarded until the end of May. However this doesn’t always stop visitors from going in for a swim. If you think there is no other way for you to refresh yourself in the hot weather, Life Saving Bulgaria recommends you take the following safery precautions.
– Never go in the water alone. Swimming with a friend or a group will significantly increase your chance of getting help should you need it.
– When getting in the water, do so slowly to allow your body to get used to the water temperature.
– Swim close to the shore.
– Do not overestimate your abilities in the water.
– If you’re in doubt about your safety, stay out of the water.
– Never leave children unattended near water!
– If you see someone in trouble, call 112.
